Commenting on the reaction at the final whistle, Roeder added: "It would hurt anybody. It is not nice, but when you don't get a result you want you have to accept the stick that goes with it.
"They are entitled to make their feelings known and you can't expect to be cheered when you lose."
Roeder once again brushed off speculation surrounding his own future.
"I have had two or three meetings (with the chairman) already and there are more planned," he added.
"As far as the speculation, Newcastle is always an easy target, so it has never worried me and I will get on with my job."
