Skal han starte høyt da og bli tatt videre der ifra? eller skal han starte lavt og by høyere?

Vi kan ikke bli sint for at det blir avslått, men hva som skjer videre...

Jeg tror faktisk at flestparten her inne (dvs hylekoret) hadde blitt kjempefornøyd om vi hadde svidd av 20 millioner pund på Mbia.
Kan vi ikke bare gjøre det, det høres jo også veldig fornuftig ut! Drite i forhandlingene og bare gi dem et bud som de ikke kan avslå.

Det som irriterer meg er at faktisk mange mener det du sier. Og hvordan skal klubben da bevege seg noen vei? Derfor jeg mener at supporterne har mye skyld i at vi er der vi er.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is keen on Newcastle goalkeeper Steve Harper, who could finish the season as first choice at St James' Park.

Manchester City are ready to pay Newcastle £3million for Shay Given, and that will enable Harper to step up from reserve team duty.

But his contract runs out at the end of the season and Redknapp sees the experienced Harper as the ideal man to cover for Heurelho Gomes.

Sam Allardyce will ask for Manchester City whizz-kid Daniel Sturridge in any deal that takes Roque Santa Cruz from Ewood Park to Eastlands.

Big Sam is playing hardball with City over Santa Cruz, with the Blackburn boss insisiting it would take an offer that "blows us out of the water" to land the Paraguay international hit-man.

City and former Blackburn boss Mark Hughes's latest £12million bid for Santa Cruz, the striker he brought to Rovers for £3.5m from Bayern Munich two years ago, falls way below Allardyce's valuation of the 27-year-old, who has notched 26 goals in 53 games for the East Lancashire outfit.

But Blackburn chief Allardyce is ready to do business if City hand over a cheque for £14mand throw in teenage sensation Sturridge.

Akkurat her sliter jeg litt med å se sammenhengen også. Skulle nesten tro at en eller annen tulling, i dette tilfellet Michael Morgan, tror at Allardyce fortsatt er Newcastle manager. Men også det faller på sin egen urimmelighet ettersom Big Sam refereres til som the Blackburn boss i denne artikelen...

Toon give Scandinavians a chance

JOE KINNEAR has revealed he will run the rule over three more Scandinavian trialists alongside Peter Lovenkrands in a behind-closed-doors friendly match on Tuesday.
But the trio of Norway and Sweden Under-21 internationals ? recommended to Kinnear by veteran Norwegian agent Rune Hauge ? are seen as potential long-term investments, rather than players to be pitched into Newcastle?s relegation battle.
Danish winger Lovenkrands, who trained with the Magpies all last week, hopes to win a permanent deal at St James?s Park by impressing on Tuesday.
But he will not be the only one out to impress.
?Three youngsters will play,? said Kinnear. ?All three of them are Under-21 internationals. Two play for Norway and one for Sweden.
?One is a centre-back, one is a left-back and the other is a midfielder.
?We will take a look at them. But I am not thinking about them for the first team.?

Kinnear eyes Lille defender Rami

JOE KINNEAR flies off on a double French scouting mission today ? with Stephane Mbia and a new defensive target in his sights.
The Newcastle boss will attend Rennes? league game at Lille to decide whether to up his rejected £5 million bid for the visitors? midfielder Stephane Mbia.
But Kinnear, pictured, is also targeting Lille?s French ?B? international centre-back Adil Rami.
Rennes insist Mbia is not available at any price, but Kinnear believes an offer closer to £10m would tempt them to sell ? and he will decide whether to make a new bid on the evidence of his own eyes tonight.
Rami is rated at around £2m, but Kinnear is hopeful the 23-year-old ? born in Corsica to Moroccan parents ? could make as big an impact at Newcastle in as short a time as another French find, Sebastien Bassong.
At almost 6ft 3in, Rami seemingly has the stature to adapt to the Premier League, but the fact that Kinnear is watching both him and Mbia for the first time ? a fortnight before the close of the mid-season transfer window ? will not impress many fans.
Kinnear also sent his Academy boss Richard Money to Carlisle yesterday to check on Cumbrians top scorer Danny Graham, and United have offered striker Andy Carroll a new five-year contract.
But Kinnear last night claimed he has had to reiterate to Newcastle?s top brass the club?s desperate need for new blood ? and that he is now ?carrying the can? for their failure to back his predecessors.
?I?ve spent more time spelling it out to them than any other manager,? said Kinnear. ?I?ve had to paint the gravity of the situation.
?There?s no ifs and buts . . . things have to be done. People think things will turn out OK whatever happens, but I don?t believe they will.
?I tell them: ?We?re not prepared for anything like the disaster we face and you?ve got to realise the importance of that?.
?People have said that previous managers maybe didn?t get what they want. I don?t believe that will happen to me.?
To stave off that disaster, Kinnear has set his side a 40-point target this season, but fears the problems of the past could yet haunt Newcastle?s future.
?Fulham got out of jail last year with 36 points. This year it might be 38, but probably 40,? warned Kinnear. ?Then you?ve got to look at the teams we?ve got left to play: Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Man United . . .
?We have the hardest finish of any of the clubs in the survival battle. We have to make sure that we are near safety before the last six games, we have to have around 38 or 40 points before those games.
?We would be borderline with the existing squad. But if everybody?s back fit, it?s realistic because we?ll be stronger than the teams down there already.?
Whatever happens, Kinnear insists he will not be held responsible for mistakes made before he set foot inside St James?s Park.
?I?ve inherited this, everyone?s forgotten that. They?re not my players,? he added.
?What is the squad situation here? Why wasn?t it addressed prior to me by the manager before? I?m carrying the can for it, simple as that.?

Hehehe, troppen hadde nok vært langt tynnere JK, om Dennis Wise hadde fått det som han ville den siste dagen av overgangsvinduet. Da ble det lagt ut flust av spillere til salgs.

Uansett so virkar det for meg fornuftig å starte lågt når ein skal by på ein spelar, så for begge partar forhandla seg fram til ein avtale.
