"Liverpool Fans Can Only Look On In Envy"
"Make no mistake, Liverpool's winning of the European Champions Cup can't gloss over the fact that they are led by a foreign manager who knows nothing about the Merseyside culture. Liverpool's fans must be distraught that instead of home grown lads like Macmanaman and Fowler, they are having to watch foreign mercenaries like Morientes and Hamman turn out in those famous red shirts. What wouldn't they give to have one of their own return as manager to bring back the glory days?
But United fans need not worry, for I have it on good authority that if approached Graeme Souness would not be allowed to leave by Freddie Shepherd. I can reveal that United's far-sighted chairman ensured a clause that no rival team from the Premier League would be allowed to entertain talks with Souness unless they were prepared to pay a whopping £15m compensation package. Freddie is a canny businessman and knowing that Chelsea were sniffing around to snatch top boss Souness, acted quickly to nip it in the bud.
So the message is loud and clear to Liverpool and their fans. Hands off you thieving Scousers; for we have Souness and you can cry into your Champions cup for all we care. Freddie Shepherd knows that United fans don't want a foreign manager - except if he's Scottish - so looks like Liverpool are stuck with the hopeless Spaniard while United fans dream of success next season. Will they shed a tear for their Mersey rivals? I think not Mr Benitez. I think not."
