Les dette !!! Det er foresten jeg som har lagd videoen
la den ut idag.
Based upon some of the comments that have come out in recent days, he just might ride this one out.
The furious reaction that took place last week has become more of a mild apathy, with people saying they will attend the Hull game and all the home games that follow, leaving us again as a club with passionate fans afraid to show the passion by boycotting to help get the person who is the root of the problem out of our club. If we go, it is still his club.
To those who say a boycott would be bad for the players - have the players at Newcastle ever played in front of a small crowd or even no crowd before...yes. They are professional players who began like the rest of us kicking a ball around in the street or the park, and not having a big support for a few games until the owner clears off would not adversely impact them.
Will the first team lose any money if people don't come to the home games...no. Their wage packets will still have more in them for one week than most of us get in one year, they are professionals doing a job, so I'd expect them to do it in any circumstance.
Will the team understand if people don't turn up to watch...I'm absolutely sure they will having worked with Keegan and know the strength of feeling the fans have for him.
My view is simple - until Ashley sells up, it is not our club anymore, it is just another one of his businesses. The way to make him sell this particular business is to stay away from games until he goes, otherwise we just make it easier for him to stay.
If the next 5-6 home games had crowds under 10,000 do you think he'd keep the club...not a chance.
My suggestion is this - go and watch non league teams in and around the north east on Saturday and on the following home game dates, like Gateshead, Blue Star, Blyth Spartans...whoever. They are local teams who need support I'm sure, and could use your fiver or whatever it costs these days, and I'll bet a pint isn't 5 quid there either. Now that would be a great protest that actually did some good for football in the north east...can you imagine if Gateshead got 20,000 for their match...how funny would that be!!
