1st Half was all Aston Villa, with Newcastle sitting back and lobbing countless end balls into the channels for Ameobi to pick up. This didn't work at all, and Villa quickly picked the ball back up and launched countless attacks. Pocklington was vocal throughout, trying to keep the young Paul Dummet switched on and aware (who at times seemed to lack concentration), yet was at fault for the first goal.
A cross came in from the flank, Phil Airey beaten after going into a tackle midway up the half, with Taylor out of position covering Airey, Villa had a spare man in the middle. If I'm harsh Greg McDermott should have tracked back and helped out, but he didn't which meant the smallest man on the pitch was able to score with a header after the ball had bounced in the area. Pocklington appeared to lose his footing on the pitch, slipping to the ground getting back into position from the cross, allowing a simple headed tap in for the little Villa player.
Villa's second came from another slip (literally) in defence, as James Taylor controlled the ball, only to slip on the field gifting the ball to Simmonds, about 30 yards out from goal. With a clear path to goal, Simmonds simply slotted it home 1 on 1 with Keeper. Taylor seemed genuinely pissed off with himself for giving the goal away as he lashed a right boot into the goal post afterwards.
Second Half was a breath of fresh air. After a delayed start, due to Samual Adjei returning late from the changing room, only to stop, hold his stomach, then head back, the game came to life. Aaron Spear came on for Adjei, slotting onto the right flank in a straight swap. Like last week nearly all the attacking movement from Newcastle came either via Ferguson or Vuckic, who linked up well. Something the first half had clearly missed.
Newcastle's goal came from a corner, which was headed clear only to fall to Greg McDermott, who shouted clearly it was his ball, before lashing it right footed into the top corner from 18 yards out. Quality goal, yet sadly the only thing he did throughout the 90mins. That goal lifted Newcastle spirits further and most of the 2nd Half was Newcastle attacking, with Villa launching a slight counter attack.
Jeff Henderson came on for James Taylor, and looked tidy, with Stephen Folan coming on for an injured Sammy Ameobi late in the 2nd half.

Gikk skikkelig rett vest for vÄre unge gutter i denne kampen. De tapte med 5-0 mot Watford.

Newcastle scored after 10 minutes when Bradden Inman latched on to a through ball, his first touch took it around the keeper which left Inman with a simple tap in to make it 1-0. 5 minutes later Newcastle had scored again, Sammy Ameobi, playing on the left flank, dribbled inside and tried to have a shot. The shot was blocked and looped into the penalty area, where Phil Airey (with a rare outing up front) smashed the ball on the volley from 10 yards out to make it 2-0.
Newcastle's 'new' back four looked comfortable, though Man City often broke their offside trap but failed to finish. They scored around the half hour mark to make it 2-1, after a cross from the left wasn't cleared. Max Johnson thought the ball was being struck first time and was on the ground, the player controlled it and finished through a body of Newcastle defenders.
Newcastle scored their 3rd in the 2nd half, Phil Dummet crossing from a free kick which saw Sammy Ameobi tower above the rest and head it home.

Hadde jo ikke vÊrt sÄ farlig det! Tottenham er jo kjent for Ä dra frem en skikkelig klassespiller i ny en ne dem. Sol Campell, Ledley King, Nick Barmby, Glenn Hoddle, Jamie Redknapp og Peter Crouch som de jeg kommer pÄ i farta.
Men nÄ er det vel skotten Willie Donachie som er nevnt i artikkelen over sÄ...........

Chris Hughton er vel neppe udugelig, da han kom med gode referanser og et godt rykte som en dyktig coach. Et rykte han sÄ aldeles ikke har gjort skam pÄ.
Calderwood er vel mer usikkert, men nÄr jeg skrev udugelig med tvilsom fortid, sÄ mente jeg nettopp det. En tvilsom kar med tvilsomme forbindelser til Cashley, med merkelappen udugelig.

Calderwood er ogsÄ skotte, tidligere midtstopper med over 30 landskamper for Skottland. Absolutt en brukbar midtstopper i sine dager.
Som manager har han bygd seg opp et godt rykte fra lavere divisjoner. FĂžrst ved Ă„ fĂžre Northampton Town opp fra League 2 til League 1, mye grunnet et lag som var meget solide defensivt.
Han gjentok bedriften med Nottingham Forest. FĂžrte dem opp fra League 1 til CCC.
Han har jo skaffet seg erfaring fra lag i litt lavere divisjoner, og har hatt suksess med det. Har lÞftet 2 lag av 2 mulige Ún divisjon hÞyere, og er nÊre ved Ä vÊre med pÄ et 3. opprykk nÄ med NUFC, som ogsÄ kun er hans 3. klubb selv om han nÄ bare er assistent manager.
Mener jeg sÄ klart forskjell pÄ laget og hvordan det opptrÄdte da Calderwood ble hentet inn for Ä hjelpe Houghton i forhold til da CH var alene.

NÄ skal det ogsÄ nevnes at Calderwood slet fryktelig med Ä holde Forest i CCC, selv om han fikk bruke mye penger pÄ Ä hente spillere. Hadde ikke styret i Forest valgt Ä sparke Calderwood og erstatte han med Billy Davies kunne det fort vÊre League One for Forest nÄ istedenfor mulighet for opprykk til PL. Men det er klart at Calderwood har solide resultater med to opprykk.

NEWCASTLE United Academy chief Joe Joyce has revealed a feel-good factor at St Jamesâ Park ahead of the visit of his old club Barnsley.
The youth-team boss has won plaudits this season for guiding Newcastleâs kids to the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup, but will have a big interest in this Saturdayâs home clash with the Tykes after making almost 400 appearances for the Oakwell side during his playing career.
Joyce led his youngsters to a 4-2 win over Crystal Palace last week to book a semi-final clash with either Fulham or Aston Villa.
He believes in the philosophy that âwins breeds winsâ with the youth team, reserve team and first team all in with a realistic shout of silverware this season.
The former Barnsley man told the Chronicle: âWhatever happens to the first-team has an impact all the way down the club, yes there is a feel-good factor here.
âItâs shown in the results weâve had in the Youth Cup and itâs been a club effort.
âChris (Hughton) has allowed us to use the first-team facilities.
âEverybodyâs pulled together, and weâve got the best outcome.
âAll of the young lads naturally want to see the first team doing well and it is a win-win situation.â
Steve Harper, Joey Barton, Kevin Nolan, Tim Krul, Jonas Gutierrez and Alan Smith were all present last week to roar on the Toon young guns, who came through the St Jamesâ experience with flying colours.
Joyce said: âThis competition gives the young players a real opportunity to get a taste of what professional footballâs all about.
âThey play at the big stadia. The crowds arenât massive, but their friends and family get an opportunity to watch them, and when they see the senior staff coming into the changing room before and after the game, it makes them realise theyâre a massive part of the club.
âItâs great for the club that the youth team are doing well.â
Joyce led United to their third semi-final in the Youth Cup in five years and says: âWeâre absolutely delighted.
âA year or two ago we had Liverpool here. It didnât quite work out for us that night.â
But Joyce can take satisfaction that two of the survivors from that night â Fraser Forster, now at Norwich on loan, and Andy Carroll, a candidate for player of the season at first-team level â are excelling as full-time pros.
Joyce said: âWhen you look at the players who have come from that squad, like Andy Carroll particularly, it just goes to show what can be achieved from a good Youth Cup run, and hard work and determination. Weâll reflect on the result (against Crystal Palace). There are still things we need to work on.
âWeâve still got a league programme as well.
âWhen it comes to the semi-final, whether itâs Aston Villa or Fulham, weâll do our homework, and weâll be quite prepared.
âOnce again, if the lads perform to their capabilities, weâll be very pleased.â

Ja, er imponert over U-18-lagets cupinnsats. Hadde vÊrt gÞy om de nÄdde finalen, for da er det mulig Ä fÄ sett kampen. Den ble jo sendt pÄ Setanta Sports i fjor.

Egentlig lite sjokka over at Barton er der, han er en veldig down-to-earth type of guy, spĂžr du meg!
ForÞvrig er dette veldig morsomt! Godt Ä se at Joyce tilsynelatende lykkes, og det er bare Ä hÄpe at vi fÄr flere Carrolls og Taylorer opp i fÞrstelaget vÄrt!

Akademiet vant den bosniske fotballturneringen Football Friends i gÄr kveld.
Den samme turneringen de vant i fjor, hvor Vuckic virkelig viste seg frem og ble turneringens spiller.
Denne gangen var det Phil Airey som ble turneringens spiller, og scoret to mÄl i finalen. Finalen endte 3-2 over NK Zagreb.
