Our former European opponents Partizan Belgrade confirm that they have allowed their striker Pierre Boya (pictured in the stripes) to travel to Tyneside and train with the Newcastle squad.
The Cameroon international striker turns 23 next month and has played his football in Serbia since 2004.
Perhaps his most high-profile game for the Grobari (Gravevdiggers) came on the night that we were beating French side Sochaux 4-0 on their own patch, just over two years ago in the UEFA Cup.
Boya finished with two goals to his name as Partizan drew 2-2 in Rome with Lazio, although the game was notable for the player being racially abused by home fans - something which saw the Italians fined and forced to play behind closed doors.
Since then however Boya has failed to score consistently for Partizan and found himself out of the side, appearing in only two of their eight UEFA Cup ties this season and failing to net on either occasion.
Despite the form of both Obafemi Martins and Antoine Sibierski, Glenn Roeder remains light in the striking department with Michael Owen and Shola Ameobi sidelined, Luque with his bags packed and Rossi returning to Old Trafford at the end of the year.

Spennende at det iallfall skjer NOE nå. Syns det begynner å ligne litt den situasjonen vi hadde før første september i høst. Da var nærmest alle linket til Newcastle og de aller fleste ble i tur og orden avkreftet. Nå må det skje noe.
Men det nest siste avsnittet der lover vel ikke akkurat veldig godt? Men det er da iallfall bedre enn ingenting at det skjer NOE.

Forresten noen som vet noe særlig om denne spilleren? Er han "stor og sterk" eller "liten og rask"? Vi trenger vel strengt tatt helst en som passer i den første kategorien.

Alan Oliver
United currently have Partizan Belgrade's Cameroon international striker Pierre Boya training with them and the word is that he has looked good, but it remains to be seen if any offer goes in.

Ikke direkte noen storscorer, men han kan jo være god for det. Med tanke på høyde og vekt ser litt ut som en target spiss.

I didn't bother to read much of this thread, and I'll be quick...
This Boya man was goalless FOR A YEAR and he played for the second-best team in Serbia. Imagine a player who starts every game for Glasgow Rangers and can't score a goal FOR A YEAR playing against Inverness, Partick, Kilmarnock etc. cause this is what Boya was doing, making us, the Red Star Belgrade fans smiling all the way...
So, if we signed him, I would be very very concerned about where this club is going....
Oh yes, Boya was out of Partizan team for a long time because their current coach won't play him. He was on trial at a Polish club recently, and they opted not to sign him. Polish club, hello!!! You do the maths!
And the 'giant' player teepee is asking about is Nikola Zigic. Look up his stats in Spanish Primera Division, or ask and Racing Santander fan what he thinks of Zigic.
Boya is Leyton Orient material.

Etter det jeg har lest her nå vet jeg nå ikke helt hvor spennende denne spilleren er lenger. Skal vi kjøpe spillere basert på at de var gode i 2004 kan vi jo snart vurdere Robert som diskuteres i en annen tråd her.
Misforstå meg rett, intet ville gledet meg mer enn om vi snappet opp en ung og ukjent spiller alà denne Boya og at han hadde blitt en kjempehit i Premier Leauge. Men ut ifra det jeg leser her nå tillater jeg meg å tvile...

Og hvorfor eller hvordan skal Newcastle klare å trekke til seg en av disse to?

Om han får kontrakt blir det nok kun ut sesongen. Presterer han blir nok kontrakten forlenget. Uansett er dette langt bedre enn å låne et "talent" fra Man Utd eller Liverpool.
