Transfers / Barcelonas Belletti er på vei
« på: 15. Aug. 2007, 01:15 »

Aug. 2007, 14:55 »
SAM Allardyce has hit a double snag in his bid to land Paris St Germain defender Mario Yepes.

The United boss has identified Yepes – nicknamed Super Mario – as the additional defender he would like to bring in before the transfer window slams shut again in 17 days time.

A move for Yepes would see the 31-year-old link up with his former PSG team-mate David Rozehnal.

However, the United boss wants to sign Yepes on a free transfer, while the French outfit value him at 2m.

Transfers / Faye nærmer seg Newcastle?
« på: 13. Aug. 2007, 23:30 »
Pris £1,5 millioner.

Reiser / Best å dra til Newcastle ifølge Observer
« på: 12. Aug. 2007, 19:15 »
What's it like?
Full of half-nude Geordies with moobs.  Brilliant cathedral-like ground looming over the city, all stands enclosed with distinct, slightly uneven stands.  Features the largest cantilevered structure in Europe for the beardies to admire, and its still full of character.

And the away end?
The sky.  It's up 14 flights of stairs at the top of the St John Hall Stand.  Room for 3,000.  Great views of the city, but you're a long way from the pitch - shirt numbers can be a blur.  Good acoustics, though, and the legroom  and steepness of the tier are perfect.

To Eat...Football's famous chicken balti pie?
Yes, plus the usuals in all branded Toon packaging, served in big concourses full of plasma screens.  Decent facilities.

Where to drink?
There's beer in the ground, but there's no reason to drink there when the billions of pubs and bars in town are a short walk away.  Most away fans tend to congregate near the station.

Make a weekend of it - the best local attractions
Saturday night in the Bigg Market.  Marvel as semi-naked youths pub-crawl in deep midwinter.  Or for a more sedate trip, stay in Whitley Bay.

Best home fans chant
"Me brother's in Borstal, me sister's got pox, me mother's a hooker down Hartlepool docks, me aunty got murdered, me uncle went mad, and Jack the Ripper's me dad. Lalalalalalalalalalala TOON!"  Must say I've never heard that one

In local pub row, don't insult...
Shearer's not boring on TV, Peter Beardsley isn't ugly and Gazza's not mad.

Overall trip rating
9.  Doesn't get much better than this.  Massive ground, city-centre location, huge range of pubs and usually ultra-friendly, in a non-cheesy way.  It's a must-visit.

The list in full...

Newcastle - 9
Everton & Villa - 8
Villa, Portsmouth, mackems, West Ham, Spurs, Birmingham - 7
Man Utd & Arsenal - 6
Bolton, Chelsea, Liverpool, Reading - 5
Blackburn & Man City - 4
Wigan & Derby - 3
smogs - 1

Generelt / Carr har aldri følt seg bedre
« på: 07. Aug. 2007, 15:43 »

STEPHEN Carr says that he's feeling better than ever following a full pre-season under Sam Allardyce and his new United regime.

The 30-year-old full-back is determined to cement his place in the Magpies starting eleven having featured in all but one of the Geordies' six friendly fixtures.

And, after a campaign last year disrupted by injury, the Irish international is feeling the benefit of Big Sam's meticulous conditioning methods as he heads into his fourth season at Gallowgate.

"I felt not bad last season either until I got injured, but I feel as good as I've ever been now," Stephen told Newcastle World TV in an exclusive interview.

"I have got a good few games under my belt and I'm raring  to go.

"I will do my best and hopefully that's good enough for the manager.

"Pre-season has been excellent, probably the best I've known and each individual has had a programme tailored for them.

"I've been very impressed and I know all the lads are feeling good going into the new season."

Carr has been something of an elder statesman in the Toon backline during pre-season, but says he is more than happy to lend a hand to the younger players.

"I had it myself when I was growing up and I think you need help as a young player, especially against opposition of that quality such as Juventus." added the former Spurs star.

"It's a great experience for them and a few of them could get a chance this season."

.Didn't watch him much but I thought he looked like another Nolan/Sean Davies/Barton type. Good engine, good shot from distance. Couldn't dictate the tempo of a game or display guile to save his life.

Thought the contrast in the 2nd leg of the youth cup game between him and Ajdarevic said alot. Barnett was all action, in the thick of everything but constantly hurried. Ajdarevic seemed to have what seemed have hours of spare time on the ball to pick his passes, and then he just moved into the free space and received the ball back.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charlie is highly rated from those who watch him play regularly. Info from TLW suggests that due to the influx of foreign players he has decided to look elswhere, has not been released. The club are said to be looking for a fee around £125,000. Other clubs are also in for him.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

that's bad news that

good little holding player Charlie, always put himself about to very good effect, good distribution and very good on set pieces

showed just as much guile as, oooo, say, Mascherano, whenever I watched him

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think he looked like he had the ability to make the step up... reminded me of Hammill somewhat.

Generelt / Er dette holdbart?
« på: 28. Juli 2007, 20:59 »
Big Sam til The Journal: “While Freddie was hands-on and here every single day of the week, it isn’t quite that under this regime – that’s the difference from my point of view.

Fat Fred til dagens Telegraph: "I wouldn't presume to tell him how to run things but all I will say is that I don't believe it can be done by proxy. We may live in an age of communication but I believe Newcastle are a club who need dedicated day-to-day handling."

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=471478&in_page_id=1779&ito=newsnow

Juli 2007, 10:24 »

Transfers / Franck Queudrue linkes
« på: 04. Juli 2007, 23:43 »

Newcastle and Everton have emerged as suitors for Fulham defender Franck Queudrue.

The 28-year-old, in England since leaving Lens in 2002, said recently that he would consider his future at Craven Cottage this summer and his agent claims Newcastle and Everton are monitoring his situation with interest.

"His technical skills and great left foot have attracted a couple of Premier League teams," Queudrue's representative Dominique Six.

"He is a professional and is under contract with Fulham. But if an opportunity occurs I will definitely study it. Newcastle and Everton regard Franck as a possible signing.

"Some Premier League clubs are looking for a left back, and Franck could be a good choice."
