‘But’, who have firm ties with Saint Etienne, have unveiled that club rejected offers from Rubin Kazan, Anzhi and Newcastle which were all in fact higher than Dortmund’s offer.

http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/aubameyang-set-to-sign-for-dortmund/

Toby Alderweireld's agent confirmed to "De Telegraaf", that PL club Norwich City made an enquiry for the player.

Newcastle United coaches learning from Europe’s finest

Liam Bramley, Neil Winskill, Ben Dawson with Frank de Boer
By Neil Cameron  |  7 Jul 2013 11:57
When is the next Geordie genius going to grace the St James’ Park pitch?

It’s not the only question Newcastle United fans ask, but it’s one that is never far away from the lips.

This is a club famous for rearing its own talent, but if the production line hasn’t stopped altogether, it’s moved a little slower in recent times.

Andy Carroll scored a few goals and made a lot of money for Newcastle. Steven Taylor is an established first-team star and there is a lot of hope for Adam Campbell.

But it’s been a while since Paul Gascoigne and Chris Waddle. Even longer since a young Peter Beardsley showed everyone how football should be played.

Things, however, may be about to change.

Two of the club’s youth coaches, Neil Winskill and Liam Bramley, recently graduated from Europe’s first ever Elite Coaches Award course.

Basically, this is UEFA’s top award for those who simply want to coach, but not actually manage.

And while the certificates that hang on their respective walls is impressive, it’s the way both men talk with such enthusiasm and intelligence about youth football makes you believe Newcastle are about to enter a new era in the club’s history.

Only 16 men were asked to take part from England, including the two from Newcastle plus Ben Dawson, who was an employee at the time and now works for the FA.

Winskill, football development manager and under-15 head coach at academy, said: “It was a privilege to be asked, first of all.

“The big thing on the course itself was they wanted you to ask why to everything. So what you thought you knew beforehand was taken to a whole new level because everything was being quizzed.

“We were told to think outside the box. If you do what you’ve always done then you’ll get what you’ve always got.”

So he and Bramley visited Paris St Germain, Ajax and Juventus among others. Looking and learning all the time.

Bramley said: “We had the chance to sit down with Antonio Conte, the Juventus manager, which was incredible.

“We were visiting the academy over there and asked whether we could speak with him. He gave us a lot of time, speaking about his football philosophy. It was a fascinating insight into what goes into running one of European football’s elite teams.”

Winskill enjoyed his time in Italy and Amsterdam when they met head coach Frank de Boer at a club that is famed for producing genuine world-class footballers.

He said: “The fact we were sat there with them and got direct access to both gentlemen was unbelievable.

“It’s a bit like pushing a button. Once you started talking about football they were off.

“De Boer was everything I thought he would be and more. He is a real student of the game, very thoughtful and a winner with Ajax and Barcelona, two clubs that are production lines of world-class players.

“He came across as a real modern innovative thinker. For someone of that standard to be as open to learning as we were was really inspirational.”

The coaches were asked to think about football, rather than just put out some cones and ask the kids to dribble around them.

Winskill said: “Every coach has to be open minded. The game evolves and you have to go along with it. If you get stuck in your ways then you’ll be dead in the water.

“There were so many things that opened up my mind in terms of how to deal with people, new ways to work, new training regimes. You have to embrace them because the game is changing at a rate of knots.”

Let’s get down to brass tacks.

What can this do for Newcastle and when are we going to see the benefits?

The answer to that is a lot and soon.

Bramley, who coaches the under-16s, said: “We have some good players at the club and good players always try to improve. The guys have been happy to take on what we’ve been telling them.”

Winskill agreed. He said: “We have really good lads at the club. They are studious and hard working, always ready for new things. That keeps us coaches on our toes because they need challenging all the time. To have Liam and myself with all this information and be able to bring it back to the staff, and ultimately share it with the kids, it can only be a good thing for Newcastle United.

“Any club would love to produce more of our own players and that is certainly an ambition at this club. The recruitment and coaching of kids is paramount to that. I would like to think that what we’ve done will help that come to fruition.

“They are being taught the right way and by good coaches. Hopefully we then pass them on to the first-team staff – that would be us doing our jobs. Time will tell.”

Konge artikkel, god lesning.
