Newcastle United will go into the newly-named Capital One Cup at the third round stage next season.
The draw for the first round of the competition - formerly known as the Carling Cup - is being made at 9.30am on Thursday morning, and will feature all Championship, League One and League Two clubs, with the exception of Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers.
Those two, who were relegated from the top flight last term, will enter at the second round along with 13 Premier League sides.
The seven Premier League clubs who have qualified for European competition - Newcastle United, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and cup holders Liverpool - will join in the third round, which is due to be played on the week commencing 24th September.
The final of the Capital One Cup will take place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, 24th February, 2013.
